...The movie features two Irish actors – James Nesbitt and Aidan Turner.
Although they were unable to attend last night as the cast are currently on a promotional tour of Europe, Aidan was well represented back in his home town.
Proud dad Pearse Turner told the Herald of his delight to see Aidan, who plays Kili in the movie, on the silver screen.
"I'm just so happy for him – his career is going so well," Pearse said. "It's wonderful to see your child in such a fantastic movie like this – we're all thrilled for him. He's home for Christmas so we can't wait to see him. He's had a busy year."
As Pearse watched the film in Dublin, Aidan posed on the red carpet with his co-stars in Berlin.
With another instalment of the blockbuster series set for release in cinemas next year, Pearse said he's hoping the makers of The Hobbit: There and Back Again will pick Dublin for the official European premiere.
